The SMI, also known as the Swiss Market Index, is the primary index of the SIX Swiss Exchange. Established to monitor the performance of the largest and most actively traded companies in Switzerland, it acts as a crucial barometer for the Swiss market's economic health. Launched in 1988, this index is composed of 20 of the most significant companies in terms of market capitalization and liquidity.
In the SMI, the companies that stand out for their high dividend profitability are Kuehne+Nagel Int, Swisscom, Zurich Insurance, Swiss Re, and Swiss Life Holding. The dividend yield percentages are impressive: Kuehne+Nagel Int offers a 4.74%, followed by Swisscom with a 4.44%, Zurich Insurance with a 4.40%, Swiss Re with a 4.24%, and finally Swiss Life Holding with a 4.22%.
